Frustrations

,
Have you ever had a day where all you encounter are frustrating situations one following another? Well even now, working with my blog template I'm feeling frustrated.  Arghhhhh! It's times like these that I enjoy a good cry or at least screaming into my pillow.  Okay, so rewind.

Woke up to the smoke detector going off in my room.  Really? Since I need to hear incessant high pitched toe curling beeps while I'm trying to make the most of the last few minutes in my covers.  Fun fact, my comforter is my most prized possession.  You think I'm kidding don't you? I would gladly trade anything for my comforter. Don't get any ideas mister.

Ate breakfast listening to my mother lamenting about the frustrations of having an unmotivated teenage son. Literally the rant goes on for another hour before I can actually get to what I need to do...change the battery on my smoke detector!

Called the DMV to ask if I need a new physical exam for my learner's permit which has...you guess it! Expired again. Wow, you sigh, I know. Hell I probably know it better than you! The hilarity is I literally got my learner's permit the day I turned 16 and have renewed it every year since. I'm 22 this year.  Clearly driving is one of the most important priorities in my life.

Brother gets home from high school at 3:15PM.  Immediately I set to make sure he gets his shit done and doesn't pull an all nighter.  Don't even get me started on him.  I know he's intelligent. I know he's capable.  He just doesn't give a shit. What's even worse is when I'm supervising him and he tells me he can get his homework done in 2 hours or less if he really wanted to.  Too bad he doesn't. This is the most important year of his academic career and homeboy is still checking his facebook newsfeed. Damn you Mark Zuckerberg!

I literally had to restart my computer 5 times during my DVD workout today.  I was fuming about my brother  and paused to take off a layer of clothing when I shocked my touchpad. Damn you Apple for your aluminum 2008 MacBook Pros. Some of us conduct electricity like it's our job!

The two bright spots of my day were watchiing the first episode of a (new to me) Tawianese drama called Miss Rose. Normally I'm not such a fan of Taiwanese shows since I find them overly cutesy and annoying but this one is tolerable.  Bonus points that my Mom likes it.  Yay for free Mother and daughter activities! Second star of the day goes to my earning potential.  For my first job I am officially aiming for $70,000. Not too bad huh.  Well, it's no 150-200,000, but for an average joe like me it's a good starting place.

The big doozy for me was realizing how incredibly boring my future is going to be. I finally understand why people who work want to go to school. I guess school is relatively less boring. I also get why people want to do extreme sports.  I need the stimulation.  Honestly how exciting can financial analysis possibly be? I finally understand the functions of meetings. It's not about productivity but about socializing. Instead of getting things done rather think about it in terms of recess.  I guess we all need some way to preserve our sanity. Yay future!

The job hunt continues. Wish me luck!

Letter from the Editor

,
Well, hello there! Welcome to the personal lifestyle blog of Angela Dai, recent college graduate and homebody. I have made countless attempts to blog before and here I am at it again! Hopefully I will be more successful this year. Wish me luck! (Exclamation for emphasis! Oh, Nicki Minaj, your lyrics have snuck into my life yet again.)

Oh yeah, what will this blog be about? Well, probably whatever I'm preoccupied with at the moment. To be honest, the idea of documenting my life is the force driving my desire to blog.  Why not use Facebook or Instagram you ask? Well the idea of someone else having control over my personal intellectual property does not sit well with me.  (No thank you, I would not like to 'check in' where ever I am.  I would like to keep my possessions thank you very much.)  I know Blogger does as well, but Google controls the world, so I guess it makes it more okay.

Note, posts will be picture heavy, since to be honest who has time to read?
Also count on lots of fashion and beauty related news.  After all I am a girl. And all girls are shallow.

Perhaps this time will be different...
The abundance of hackneyed welcomes is driving me nuts.

In case you haven't noticed my brain switches gears faster than a middle school girl switches crushes.

Having graduated from the University of Pittsburgh with a Bachelor of Arts in Economics, International Studies Certificate, and minor in Chinese, I am saying goodbye to education at the present moment. I briefly cavorted with the idea of a PhD from MIT in economics for the past week but after logging on briefly to their website my desire has shrunk faster than a teenage boy find his mom on his favorite porn site. The job placement is quite promising... if you are desiring a career as a college professor at another elite university.  Academia is not what I have in mind for myself. I believe the private sector suits my tastes more.

However, what in the private sector? I am not sure. I guess I would prefer to do something related to my major.  Afterall I wasted the last four years learning about macroeconomic models and public finance.  It would be nice to apply it somewhere, but honestly, who do you know that does something related to what they studied in college? Maybe I can find government work and work at a regional Federal Reserve Bank? Now who wouldn't feel important doing that? Investment banks, wealth management, trading, financial advising...whooopeee!

Oh, a nice thought permeated my fluffy brain. This blog will prove to be a useful exercise in maintaining my writing abilities, as convoluted or critical they may be.

Well enjoy your look around. Leave a comment if it suits your fancy.
